Welcome to Magicworks, the portfolio of freelance Front End Web Developer Laura Lieknina.

Born and raised in Latvia, where I am hard at work delivering high quality code and eye-catching layouts for my clients.

With over fifteen years of experience as a freelancer in the industry, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, I have produced results for clients ranging from start-up companies and established corporations to the Government of Latvia.

I work primarily as a Front End Developer, though I am able to fill the aforementioned roles and more. I am a strong team player, but also capable of working independently in order to meet business needs. Clients value my ability to develop and retain a clear vision for my projects at all times, ensuring that I can utilize my experience effectively and offer advice on any aspect of the project at any time.

Front End Development
I write clean code that conforms to W3C web standards and best practices. Using my experience with HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript/jQuery/Angular, I transform static pages into living, breathing creations. I craft an amazing user experience by building pixel-perfect, interactive, and fully functional interfaces — exactly the way the designers intended for them to be.

I build websites with a responsive grid system, using front end framework like Twitter Bootstrap and frequently use NPM, Gulp for task automation to develop layouts that are fast, mobile-friendly, standardized, cross-browser compatible, and future proof.

For web designs, I have a talented team of UI Artists and Web Designers with whom I have worked closely for many years. Together, we create beautiful, responsive designs that will exceed your expectations. Whether you already have a design in mind or just an idea, we can bring it to life with high quality work and quick results.

Back End Development
On the back end, I help clients make their ideas manifest. When developing websites, I often use WordPress as a content management system — sporting custom themes, post types, taxonomies, and plugins which I code myself. For more advanced web applications or other specific needs, I use PHP frameworks like Symfony and Yii to develop the apps from scratch.

I have extensive experience with MVC architectures, user authentication systems, and even APIs for mobile application developers. I also have experience with integrating third party APIs into web applications, LAMP stack, database design and query optimization with MySQL, and Git version control.
